Here We Go Again

The first year of Rykers life flew by! Before I knew it he turned 1, he was born in September in Wisconsin so you can expect it to be cooler. Day he was born it was windy and about 50° the day he turned 1 it was 91°. Few weeks after he turned one I  was joking around with one of my friends and she was talking about taking a pregnancy test. No big deal right. Well she told me to take one as well. So I did thinking it’s going to be negative it a big deal so I just bought a $1 test from Dollar tree.
Went to my moms house and took the test. Hers negative mine positive. Guess that was instant karma from doing that to my sister in law while we were in high school. Back then mine was negative, hers positive.  I cried to hard becaue well I was good with 1 baby at the time. But I freaked out. It didn’t even take 30 seconds for the test to come back positive. I remember getting into the car by my husband with my 1 year old in the back seat, I looked at him and said “well what if we had another baby?” He said Idk why? Told him well we better figure it out because I’m pregnant. No clue how far I was nothing. My periods were always irregular at that point and apparently what I had thought was my period was implantation bleeding.
I remember that car ride back to his mom and step dad’s we sat in pure silence. Our marriage was on the rocks already at that point. He was changing and definitely not for the best. We found out on October 15th. I had multiple blood draws Because my HCG levels were not only doubling but tripling in a day or 2/ so they thought for sure I would have twins. Twins run on both sides. We had decided to wait u til Christmas to announce as we didn’t k ow how far we were yet. Our first appointment we found out I was 8 weeks which was about mid November. Perfect we would be around 15 weeks at Christmas.
That was the hardest thing was keeping my mouth shut at work and around family who didn’t know yet. Thankfully I did though because on December 18th 2017 my son Ryker and I were in my first ever car accident. I had the day off and I had just picked up Rykers Shirt for Christmas dad announcement. It said “oh for Fox sake I’m going to be a big brother!” We we’re going to hangout at my moms as I had the day off. We were a mile from her house when I hit slush and ice. My Nissan Murano that I just put $2500 worth of work into 2 weeks prior spun out. We we did a 360° and into the ditch to a telephone pole on the diver side: we hit between the driver door and back divers side door. Ryker was on passenger side and my screaming scared him more than the accident itself. He was and is still rear facing. I was going 35mph in a 45mph zone. I called my mom crying telling ember I totaled my car. Thankfully a cop was driving by and helped me out. He could tel I wasn’t speeding because all my windows were intact and my air bags never deployed.
I went to the hospital after as precaution to be checked out and have my son checked out. I heard the heartbeat and felt so much relief. I had some bruising on my left side Ryker he walked away without a scratch. We parked the car at my moms until my husband could move it to his moms for insurance to come and pick up. They came and picked it up and called me within 24 hours of picking it up. The murano needed $5600 worth of work so they ended up totaling it out and I had to start over. I hate car shopping!
Finally Christmas Eve hit and we had my husband family Christmas so we bought another shirt for Ryker that said “best brother”  3 hours passed when someone finally read his shirt and it clicked. I laughed a little that no one asked before that. The Christmas Day we put Ryker in one outfit so the gift opening pictures didn’t reveal it. Before dinner I changed his shirt to the fox one. He ran around for about an hour until one of my Aunts picked him up to read his shirt. Everyone was pretty surprised on both sides of our family.
I had my 20 weeks appointment in June and I brought my best friend as orginally we were going to due a gender reveal but my husband refused to go to the appointment. Fine whatever I told him then he can find out via text he won’t get the joys and of something was wrong I wouldn’t be able to forgive him for not going. He told me nothing was wrong and I needed to relax. Mind you I was in a car accident and they only listened for the heartbeat no ultrasound nothing. Well my friend and I found out it was a boy they looked and asked what do you thin me it is. I looked at the screen definitely was a boy he was not shy. 😂. Then she got very silent as she as finish up the rest of my ultrasound. I tried to act like I didn’t notice but I definitely was panicking.
They had me sit outside the doctors office until I got called back to talk to the doctor. The doctor came in told me all the exciting things, then he said but! That’s when my heart sank a little. They said the placement of the umbilical cord to the placenta is not correct it’s branching out on the side instead of connecting in one spot it was connecting in multiple different spots. I looked at my best friend and was trying not to cry becaue I was scared. He told me if nothing changes I would need to deliver via csection as if I went into natural labor I could rupture my placenta and it could be fatal for my baby and myself. I remember crying while driving back home with my friend in the passenger seat. We made a pit stop at another friends to tell her the gender as she was also pregnant and 6 weeks behind me. They scheduled me to come back in 7 weeks for another ultrasound to check everything.
7 weeks later I has my ultrasound and they told me everything looked way better than the last time and it looked like the cord was in the correct placement even comparing the ultrasounds I’m not sure how that happened because it definitely showed blood flow to multiple spots the first time and the 2nd time blood flow was in the correct place. The rest of my pregnancy was a breeze! I was so excited to have my baby boy app . I had my final appointment on June 22nd 2018 and they stripped my membranes as that was my due date.
They told me come back if you start having contractions. Hmmm okay I thought those hurt I’ll know. Haha jokes on me. About 45 minutes later my stomach began to contract every 2-4 minutes about a minute each time but nothing was painful. So got home went to Walmart with my moms friend walked 2 hours. Finally called the hospital around 8-9pm told them what was going on they asked my due date I told them “today” they advd me to come in. So we dropped our son off and off to the hospital we went. I got there they checked me and admitted me right away as I was at 6 cm absolutely pain free. Due to having. Strep b I had to get antibiotics before they could break my Water as I have what’s called spontaneous deliveries. I walked the halls till 4am while my husband slept. They came in at  4:50am broke my water and I napped u til 6:15 am when the nurse came in to check me. I was still at 6cm but my contractions were a little more noticeable but nothing awful I was still walking and talking through them.
The nurse ran the bath water so I could relax I got in the bath between 6:30-635 and by 6:45 my contractions got 5xs worse. So I called for the nurse she helped me to the bed and in a dry gown. She checked me I was at 9 I asked for the epidural. 😂 jokes on me she left to page for it and 2 minutes later I told my husband to page them he is falling out.  She ran back in checked and I was at 10. She pages the dr who was in the room down the hall. He arrived at 6:50 am by 6:52 am Renly Christopher Watzka was in my arms. My beautiful 7# 14oz, 20 1/2 inches long! He was absolutely perfect and is still absolutely perfect
